Duties and Responsibilities

  • Edit and proofread division documents, reports and other products to ensure grammatically accurate and well-written drafts that align with department Style Guide and AP Style. Develop and implement communication tools to increase the effectiveness of the Division’s programs, responsibilities and initiatives.
  • Support development of Division projects by drafting content for press releases, websites, email announcements and division reports and publications related to performance management and continuous improvement efforts and activities.
  • Contribute communication expertise on special projects in the Division and in collaboration with other department programs.
  • Synthesize large volumes of data into manageable reports; assist with developing product outlines and drafts.
  • Be flexible. This position assists with a wide range of projects as needed. Projects can range from assisting with developing video training to working on projects related to work conducted in Florida’s 67 county health departments.

    Knowledge of AP Style, basic grammar and spelling, and Microsoft Office, and a thorough comprehension of the English language. This position requires a positive attitude, commitment to hard work and desire to work as part of a team. It is an entry-level writing position for a communications professional with potential for growth.

    70% Editing and proofing reports and other communication products.

    20% Draft content for various projects and programs.

    10% Serve on workgroups within the Division to support various programs and projects designed to move health forward in the state of Florida.
