The Prosecution Services Unit (PSU) is responsible for providing legal services in the regulation of all health care boards and councils. PSU takes administrative action against healthcare practitioners for violations of the licensee’s practice act.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Timely prepares complex disciplinary cases for 3-5 professions for review by Probable Cause Panel (PCP) and/or Board members. Preparation includes, but is not limited to, independently reviewing a high volume of complex disciplinary cases for completeness, correct contents, and order of materials. Utilizes iBuilder, Axiom Pro, and/or Adobe, to facilitate building agendas. Utilizes flash drives and/or CDs for the transmittal of x-rays, audio, video and/or any materials that cannot be uploaded into iBuilder. Prepares and submits public book materials to Board office staff. Meets deadlines established by Program Operations Administrator and/or Board office staff, including, but not limited to, publishing agendas, mailing of materials to Panel members, preparing disposition letters for attorney review, and preparing/mailing of disposition letters to appropriate parties.
- Participates in all Probable Cause Panel telephone conference calls or live meetings for assigned professions. Unless otherwise instructed, ensures court reporters are scheduled for day of Probable Cause Panel meeting.
- Updates appropriate closure codes for PCP dismissals and/or updates appropriate post-Board meeting codes in LEIDS. Requires understanding of the disciplinary process and of the current status and activity codes. For any cases tabled or withdrawn at PCP or Board meetings, updates appropriate activity code and includes reason for being tabled or withdrawn in notes field.
- Submits copies of executed Closing Orders and disposition letters to Business Center for upload into the AxiomPro electronic case file. Document category and type are appropriately identified to ensure accurate upload of documents.
- Directs telephone inquiries received from the general public, complainants, subjects and/or subjects counsel concerning disciplinary cases to the responsible attorney or legal staff. Incumbent assists with requests for copies of investigative files by subjects of investigation or attorneys representing the subjects, pursuant to Chapter 456, Florida Statutes. Provides information and direction regarding the management of case files as processed through the probable cause panel area.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Sound writing and organizational skills; knowledge of correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar usage; and sound reading comprehension. Computer skills and MS Office computer literacy are required. Ability to plan, manage, and organize work priorities, multitask and ensure proper completion of work assignments in a timely manner, and manage time. Ability to learn to use a case tracking system and applications required to perform daily work functions. Knowledge of the techniques for handling complaints and dealing with the public. Ability to compile, organize and analyze data and create reports. Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

- Capable of typing, proofreading and editing for proper grammar and spelling, communication, and calendaring and setting up meetings.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent AND
- 2 years administrative experience to include Microsoft Office, Adobe, data entry, and document preparation.
- College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
