SPECIAL NOTES: 
Admittance to the Florida Bar is required.

Preference will be given to applicants with two (2) or more years’ experience as a licensed attorney and one (1) or more years’ experience with either: 1) chapter 287, Florida Statutes, procurement and contracting processes, or 2) procurement and contracting for a public entity.

Expected hiring salary range is $55,000 to $65,000, depending upon experience.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office and either Westlaw or Lexis/Nexis legal research tools.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: 
Provide counsel to other department staff on matters affecting the department and the Chief Financial Officer. Provide in-house opinions in areas under the jurisdiction of the department and the Chief Financial Officer on designated matters, including providing legal advice and assistance to the offices and divisions within the department regarding procurement, contracting, and rulemaking matters. Handle all legal aspects of rule promulgation by the department, including research, drafting, analysis, and review. Handle opinions on rules. Prepare procurement and contract template documents. Review procurement and contract documents regarding matters within the jurisdiction of the department and the Chief Financial Officer and determine compliance with applicable state and federal laws and department rules. Handle all aspects of legislation affecting the department and the Chief Financial Officer as-needed, including research, drafting, and analysis. Provide opinions regarding legislation and statutory interpretation. Act as a mentor providing guidance and assistance to designated attorneys and staff.
