To assist in the execution of the Department of Financial Services’ responsibilities for the Florida PALM Project, taking direction from the Technical Track Manager, and serve as a state lead for supporting the development of Integration Architecture (“IA”) including modern Software Oriented Architectures (“SOA”) and legacy (e.g. batch) solutions by studying the state’s current and future business processes; designing, developing, and implementing IA and SOA software solutions; and supporting software development teams (contract and state).  


Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. 

Applicants are required to have the following:

  • Experience architecting, designing, and administering from an IT perspective Integration Architectures (“IA”) including modern Service Oriented Architectures (“SOA”) and legacy interface (e.g., batch) solutions.
  • Experience with modeling tools for data and integration.
  • Experience with data and integration governance programs, processes, and procedures.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge and skill in the areas of legacy (e.g. file-based, batch) and modern (e.g. SOA) integration architectures and interoperability standards, patterns, and protocols.
  • Knowledge and skill in the areas of commercial off the shelf (“COTS”) integration applications and solutions.
  • Knowledge and skill in the areas of conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling and service-oriented modeling.
  • Knowledge and skill in the areas of data and integration governance programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business analysis, technical analysis, and problem solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of software design, development processes, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of software requirement management and testing techniques.
  • Skill in translating technical concepts to business audience and business information to a technical audience.
  • Skill in Microsoft Suite products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook) and Visio software.
  • Ability to document and analyze user requirements.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with application end-users.
  • Ability to provide mentoring and facilitate teamwork.


Supports the development of IA (including SOA and legacy integration) software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle. 

Determines IA (including SOA and legacy integration) solution feasibility by providing analyses, as well as evaluating existing analyses, problem definitions, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.

Documents and demonstrates IA (including SOA and legacy integration) solutions by developing documentation, specifications, flowcharts, and/or diagrams.

Applies systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications.

Documents, analyzes, and/or tests the modification of computer systems or programs, including prototypes, based on and related to user or system design specifications

Improves existing IA (including SOA and legacy integration) business processes by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.

Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; or participating in professional organizations.
