SPECIAL NOTES:

A bachelor’s degree with a major in computer science, economics, business, or mathematics from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Additional preference will be giving to applicants with: 

  • Two (2) or more years of accounting system, and/or budgeting system experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of Data analysis / reporting / warehousing experience.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience with business analysis, design, programming and data base management techniques.
  • Five (5) or more years of SQL, Web programming experience.
  • Working knowledge of database management systems such as DB2, Oracle, SQL database.
  • Working knowledge of reporting / business analytic tools such as Crystal Report, WebFOCUS, Cognos, SAS, Toad.

This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description. 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of data warehousing, and data governance.
  • Knowledge of DBMS. data mining, SQL language, and ETL process.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, and business analytics.
  • Knowledge of business analysis, system design, and programming techniques.
  • Ability to design, implement, and tune database schemas.
  • Ability to develop enterprise data model and processes for business analytics.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to new data reporting requirements based on emerging needs, including ad hoc requests.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex information and requirements.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
*Leverage existing data assets and tools to ensure high data quality and reliability; and establish repeatable processes.

*Search for new data sources, new technology and adapt the data warehouse to changing data profiles and reporting requirements.

*Assist with establishing guiding principles for data warehousing.

*Interact with internal and external customers to extract, interpret and communicate data, and present them with the possibilities available to them through data warehousing.

*Design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, or modification of computer programs, including prototypes, based on reporting & business analytics requirements.

*Performs software evaluations, which includes:  determine software requirements; review available products; test and evaluate new products; make purchase recommendations.

*Assist with training data warehouse staff and ensure appropriate maintenance and development of all data.
