Description of Job

The Florida Highway Patrol's Orlando Regional Communications Center is recruiting applicants for the OPS Law Enforcement Call Taker position. This position pays $12/hr. and offers a highly flexible work schedule. Members can work up to 40 hours per week. This position is ideal for students or for those seeking supplemental income. 

Job duties include answering emergency and non-emergency phone lines, including 911 transfer and *FHP calls. This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer and telephone.

 

Job Related Requirements:

A complete background, criminal record check, drug screen and Florida driver license check will be conducted on the selected applicant(s).The selected applicant must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check.

 

Potential candidates will be required to successfully pass CritiCall (call simulation testing) prior to interview. Those meeting the pre-determined scoring criteria will be invited to interview. Please note, CritiCall scores remain active for a period of 90 days. Applicants who re-apply within the 90 day window will not be eligible to re-take CritiCall. 

In accordance with F.S. 322, selected applicant must possess a valid Class E or higher driver's license.

 

Selected applicants must have no cancellations, suspensions, or revocations of the driving privilege for a minimum of three (3) years prior to employment and must also maintain a driving record with no more than three (3) chargeable motor vehicle crash or any violation defined in Chapter 316, Florida Statutes during any consecutive (3) year period of employment.

 

The selected applicant must be at least 18 years of age; High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.

 

SELECTION PROCESS INFORMATION:

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to pre-employment fingerprinting, drug testing, and a background investigation.

 

The process for selecting applicant(s) for this position could take up to six months.  Following the six month period, a new application must be submitted to an open advertisement in order to be considered for that vacancy.

 

HSMV OPS employees are paid biweekly. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
