The Office of Financial Regulation (OFR) is responsible for licensing, chartering, examining, and regulating depository and non-depository financial institutions and financial service companies, including state-chartered banks, credit unions, trust companies, loan originators, mortgage lenders, securities dealers, investment advisors, consumer collection agencies and money transmitters throughout the state of Florida.

SPECIAL NOTES:
Four (4) years of professional examination and/or regulatory work experience relating to financial institutions, financial services companies, insurance companies, securities dealers or investment advisers, mortgage brokers or lenders, or money services businesses is required. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for the years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferences:
- Individuals who have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in accounting, finance, economics, business, insurance, or risk management.
- Individuals who have a master’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance or risk management or a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE); Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS); and/or a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Individuals who have three (3) or more years of professional experience in accounting, examining, investigating, analyzing or auditing financial data within the banking, insurance, consumer finance lending and money service businesses or with federal, state or local government.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.
This position requires approximately 25-50% frequent/overnight travel and a valid Driver’s License.
The anticipated annual salary range shall be from $67,000.00 to $70,000.00. The starting salary shall be commensurate with the selected candidate’s competencies and qualifications. This position may include the addition of a Competitive Area Differential (CAD) of $105.73 monthly/$1,268.76 annually (West Palm Beach), if applicable.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

All applicants seeking employment with the OFR are subject to mandatory background checks conducted through the DFS, Bureau of Human Resource Management in accordance with the requirements of chapter 435, Florida Statutes, and reviews by OFR. Background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Utilize standard examining procedures and methods in the performance and compilation of detailed examination and complaint investigations of financial entities in all of the areas regulated by OFR. Responsible for enforcement of the statutes and regulations pertaining to Chapters 494, 516, 520, 537, 559 and 560 as determined by the Bureau’s case priorities or management assignments. May be assigned as the examiner-in-charge on any given case; and assist in the completion of difficult and complex examinations and complaint investigations. Researches and analyzes the information on the check cashing database (CCDB) to identify and conduct FT3 examinations.
Responsible for the timely preparation and submission of examination and complaint investigation reports, documentation, and work papers. This includes timely completion of all REAL-related activities, such as scanning, indexing, attaching case documents, and creating and updating case notes.
Conduct or assist in on-the-job training of Financial Examiners/Analysts (I and II).
Perform other related duties and responsibilities, as required.
