1.      Provide direct patient care to mental health residents by participation in therapy sessions, activity programs, personnel hygiene, and individualized treatment.  Monitor residents' progress and implement specialized treatments as directed by the treatment team.               Maintain a safe secure and therapeutic environment.
2.      Operate control panel, answer telephone, pass messages, monitor entrance and exit of treatment staff and non-treatment staff and residents to the building.
3.      Serve meals, conduct room checks, conduct face counts, escort residents and document the issuing of controlled items.
4.      Write and read daily notes on residents' behavior, review daily progress notes, shift reports, logs and keep current on all changes in the residents' record.
5.      Provide crisis intervention and assistance to staff and residents as needed.
6.      Physically maintain a safe and clean work area on throughout residential buildings and living areas.
7.      Supervise residents in recreational or cultural activities on and off the treatment building. Coordinate clinic visits for residents and assist nurse when necessary.
8.      Participate in staffings, shift reports, building meetings and multi-disciplinary team rounds.
9.      Work with adjunctive therapy programs to facilitate and/or assist with residents' treatment.
10.    Perform all related work, including all assigned training , as required
11.    Work in conjunction  Rehabilitative Services staff on the management of the Pool facilities during the established season.
12.   Prepares pool for opening each day during the season.
13.   Maintains current and active Lifeguard certification and functions as direct care lifeguard as scheduled during pool season.
14.   Maintains pool equipment and supplies in proper quantities and in functional, safe working order.
15.   Instructs residents and staff in proper pool safety practices and techniques.
16.   Keeps pool and facilities, properly cleaned, sanitized, and in functional working condition.

This position requires fingerprinting.  The employee in this position spends a minimum of 75% of his/her time performing duties which involve contact with residents in a forensic facility or institution.
 

Maintains current and active Lifeguard certification and functions as the lifeguard for the facility swimming pool as scheduled during the season. Works with the Rehabilitation Services department in preparing the facility swimming pool for opening each assigned day of the season. Maintains pool equipment and supplies in proper quantities and in functional, safe working order. Instructs residents and staff proper pool safety practices and techniques.

 

Assists the Rehabilitation Services staff at planning, coordinating and facilitating center-wide recreational and social activities, groups and events, designed to identify and reduce discharge barriers, model and promote appropriate social interaction skills and enhance overall health and wellness for our residents.

 

Report observations regarding resident’s behaviors and activities to treatment team and/or direct care staff for appropriate documentation. Complete current training required by the facility within required timeframes.
