OPS Library Technical Assistant – 70910116
This advertisement is for an OPS position located at Okaloosa Correctional Institution in the Education Department.
SALARY: $13.50 HOURLY
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Processes inmate requests pertaining to general and law library service.
• Opens library a minimum of 25 hours per week.
• Picks up and returns request to the mail room.
• Makes cell-front visits to pick up and return inmates’ legal documents.
• Assigns research duties to inmate clerks.
• Answers requests and grievances within mandatory time limits.
• Performs photocopying.
• Supervises activities of inmate aides and clerks.
• Reviews research aides’ responses to requests.
• Monitors check out and return of library materials.
• Monitors interlibrary loan processing.
• Monitor’s use of copy machine.
• Ensures accuracy or records.
• Evaluates clerk performance for gain time review.
• Initiates appropriate disciplinary action.
• Document’s provision of library services.
• Collects data and compiles reports for librarian approval.
• Forwards law library invoices.
• Forwards charge forms.
• Maintains inventory of supplies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of the procedures for classifying, cataloging, and using authority files for library materials.
• Ability to conduct routine bibliographic searches for print or non-print library materials.
• Ability to maintain book collections.
• Ability to perform acquisitions processes for print or non-print library materials.
• Ability to assist users in locating and using materials.
• Ability to perform basic circulation functions according to established procedures.
• Ability to maintain assigned card catalog or data base collections.
• Ability to edit bibliographic records for format and spelling.
• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
• Ability to maintain records.
• Ability to operate equipment, such as video display terminals and microfiche readers.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• A high school diploma or its equivalent.
