Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

This is a professional generalized public health clinic Registered Nurse position working at the FDOH – Hendry and Glades in Clewiston. “The employee shall maintain accurate and complete medical records. The employer, Department of Health, is the records owner of the medical records as defined by section 456.057 Florida Statue.” The position works under the direct supervision of the Community Health Nursing Director with headquarters in Clewiston.


Per protocols- provides direct services to clients presenting for care including, but not limited to, family planning, teen health, immunizations, STD screenings, insulin distribution, PPD/LTBI, and Refugee health, etc. Assists with follow up and recall of PrEP clients. Assists with all programs in clinic. Completes Healthy Start screenings on positive pregnancy tests.
 

Issues medications and insulin per protocol or provider order.
 

Performs testing procedures, venipunctures, U/A, PPD’s, pregnancy test, HIV testing and counseling. Assists Providers with procedures.
 

Teaches and counsels clients on lifestyle, compliance, health practices, medications, and follow-up. Provides follow-up when needed.
 

Ensures thorough and accurate documentation in Electronic Health Record, quality customer service, and overall clinical excellence.
 

Serves as Epi/TB backup. Floats, as needed, to provided nursing coverage for Hendry and Glades Counties.

 

Monitors and ensures vaccine and lab temperatures are within acceptable limits. Assists with upload of temperatures weekly into FL Shots, as indicated. Responsible for monitoring and ordering medication, vaccine, and supply inventory for clinic. Monitors and reconciles lab manifest to ensure tests are ordered and resulted.

 

Assesses immunization levels and is responsible for immunization recall reminders.
 

Participates in the QI Process to include process/input of clinic policy/procedures, and chart audits. Assesses immunization levels and is responsible for immunization recall reminders. Participates in staff meetings. Attends scheduled trainings/meetings. Participates in disaster preparedness activities. Participates in outreach events,

as needed.

Must have thorough knowledge of nursing and public health principles, practices, and techniques. Ability for: critical thinking, prioritizing, and multi-tasking. Must have excellent communication skills and ability to educate and counsel clients on health-related matters and to effectively work with management and subordinates Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27
  • Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
