This is a multi-hire requisition, and will be used to fill multiple vacancies.



This is a temporary, professional position in the Florida Department of Health in Okaloosa County that will provide nursing support to local COVID-19 response. This position requires clinical skills within a Registered Nurse scope of practice.

Incumbent must professionally interact with health care providers as well as community members of diverse social, economic and cultural characteristics. Incumbent will request and have regular access to a wide range of protected health information and must follow all laws and policies on accessing and sharing such data. Incumbent must understand and effectively communicate the current guidelines on infectious periods, exposure risks, isolation protocols, and emergency warning signs. Excellent written and verbal communication are required.


Scheduled work may include weekends, evenings, and holidays. Work assignments include outdoor testing events. Incumbent may interact with those known or suspected to have an active infection and must follow all appropriate protocols for self-protection against transmission.


Specific duties include but not limited to, collecting client data, completing laboratory forms, collecting specimens for COVID-19, packaging specimens for shipment, reconciling test results with orders, providing test results to clients, entering data into electronic health record and/or electronic data base and ordering labs in electronic health record. The incumbent in this position must display exceptional customer service, demonstrate competency of skill, have the ability to communicate effectively, demonstrate a willingness to assist others and solve problems. Training will be provided for collection techniques, PPE and other laboratory processes.
