YOUR SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a professional Senior Licensed Practical Nurse position in the Immunization Program, working under the supervision of a Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor

 

Conduct immunization assessments and screenings and administer vaccines as appropriate in the

immunization clinic and at immunization community events located throughout Orange County, Florida to infants, children, adolescents and adults. Provides immunization education including the risks and benefits of vaccines. The immunizations Program's clinic is very busy and services a high volume of clients (not including telephone contacts). This position requires the Nurse to multi-task, be proactive, well-organized and prioritize work in a manner that promotes providing excellent customer service and efficient clinic flow to support clients visits from check in to check out. Trains newly hired immunization clinic nurses on vaccine administration.

 

Provides vaccinations to clients of all ages during the Annual Back to School event in August and during the Annual influenza seasons.

 

Attends and participates in Nursing in-services and staff development activities, IAP trainings and team

meetings and Florida Department of Health Orange staff meetings.

 

Participates in expanded immunization clinics with extended hours within the health department and/or at

immunization community events. Serves as a resource to community agencies, schools, and other

organizations as appropriate. Travels to various locations within Orange County, Florida as necessary to

perform job duties. Utilizes Florida SHOTS and HMS for documentation of vaccine administration and follow-up

REQUIRED  KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to administer all vaccines.

Knowledge of vaccines and immunization requirements and guidelines for persons of all ages. 

Ability to use FLSHOTS, HMS Independently.  

Ability to read, write and fluently speak English and a second language if applicable.

Knowledge of childhood and adult immunization schedule and Florida Department of Educations’ school Immunization requirements.

Ability to learn training material and apply it to job duties and responsibilities.

Ability to teach others. Knowledge of adult learning methods.

Ability to sit for long periods of time and remain focused. 

Ability to work independently. Ability to use multiple computer programs.

Be available to attend evening and weekend Immunization clinics and events.

Able to be flexible as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Florida licensure as a practical nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statures or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.22 or 8.27?
  • Emergency Duty

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 to 6 months of verifiable work experience administering vaccination.
  • 1 year of verifiable work experience utilizing an electronic health record (EHR)
