CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  2. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. 
  3. The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
  • One (1) year experience in landscaping, maintaining grounds, and property or related work

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains lawns and roadways using tractors, mowers, power tools and hand tools.
  • Trims trees, shrubs, and hedges routinely, installs mulch, sod and other vegetation for soil stabilization and erosion control.
  • Removes litter and rubbish from grounds and roadsides ensuring worksites are clean and free of debris.
  • Coordinates the maintenance of the equipment used to ensure periodic maintenance is performed. Ensures preventive maintenance is completed on equipment used to perform grounds maintenance tasks. Maintains tools and equipment with cutting edges sharp, clean, and ready to use.
  • Collecting recyclables as directed.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of groundskeeping techniques
  • Skill in using lawn mowers, tree trimmers and cutters and other garden tools
  • Ability to maintain lawns and grounds
  • Ability to keep records
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Skill in using lawn mowers, tree trimmers, edger, cutters, and other garden tools
