This position functions as a Master's Level Psychology Clinician at Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee. Florida State Hospital is a 1300-bed state inpatient psychiatric hospital, housing both male and female patients in a Forensic and Civil Setting. Patients are committed as either Incompetent to Proceed, Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, or Involuntary Civil Commitment. This position requires the candidate to have a Master's Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an acreditted university.
The applicant selected to fill this position shall be required to submit to a pre-employment medical examination. This position requires lifting, pulling, and squatting. Duties of this position require the incumbent to be knowledgeable of and utilize the principles of Total Quality Management. This is professional work in the performance of Clinical Psychological Services including treatment, research, and consultation with unit treatment staff. The position provides masters level psychotherapeutic and psychodiagnostic services as directed to patients in in the facility under the supervision of a licensed psychologist..
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts individual psychotherapy, group therapy and behavior programs where indicated.
- Performs intake interviews and reviews collateral data in order to make diagnoses, to assess patients' level of mental and behavioral functioning, and to make treatment recommendations.
- Performs clinical/legal evaluations as required by committing courts, combining data from observation, interviews, assessments, and consultations to produce comprehensive written reports.
- Adminsters and interprets comprehensive diagnostic test batteries in order to assess the patient's current level of functioning and potential for improvement.
- Conducts individual crisis intervention, consulting with both professional and non-professional staff members regarding behavioral problems of patients. Prepares clinical summaries on patientsand participates in general staff conferences.
- Follows and carries out FSH/Unit/Department Safety Practices, Policies and Procedures.
- Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
- Knowledge of the theories and principles of psychology.
- Knowledge of psychological testing principles and practices.
- Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, analyzing and interpreting data.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Ability to develop policies, procedures and standards.
- Ability to analyze and interpret psychological data.
- Ability to provide consultation, advise and training to others.
- Ability to formulate and implement goals and objectives.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A Master's Degree in clincial or counseling psychology or a related field from an accredited college or university.
