 Eligibility Specialist II -  Central Region Hearings Unit. 

 
Job Description    
The primary function of the Economic Self-Sufficiency Specialist II includes but is not limited to: reviews and approves case work processed for eligibility of various public assistance programs; prepares evidence packets needing a higher level of policy and reviews cases for client hearing preparation. Presents case evidence to the Office of Administrative Hearings. Coaches and mentors staff.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Value professionalism and customer service – able to conduct evidence hearings with the Office of Administrative Hearings in a professional manner; maintain high professional standards and remain calm and courteous when dealing with customers.
  • Possess strong communication and active listening skills – able to express ideas and facts clearly and be able to convey complex or detailed information to customers with varying levels of understanding of the hearings process.
  • Value attention to detail, organization and prioritization – be thorough in accomplishing tasks and be able to plan and organize time and resources effectively to meet deadlines and statutory requirements.
  • Possess discretion and integrity – able to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • The ability to proficiently operate various technology applications, such as Microsoft Office and Excel, and possess the ability to learn new software.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will also be given to applicants who have experience:

  • Experience analyzing and interpreting information from different sources to make decisions and draw conclusions on various eligibility programs. Additional preference will be given to those with extensive experience analyzing and interpreting policy.
  • Experience preparing evidence packets.
  • Experience creating and maintaining case files/a document filing system.
  • Experience in customer service dealing with customer questions or complaints.

 

Job Related Requirements

  • 2 Years experience as an Eligibility Specialist I.
  • Strong knowledge of ESS Policy.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license. 
  • Abilty to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to present in front of small groups.
