CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  2. New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program. 
  3. The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
  4. This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
  5. As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e. High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; AND
  • Two (2) years of experience working as an electrician or performing electrical work.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Performs proper maintenance and repair of electrical systems to include but not limited to:

  • Performing maintenance and repair on all building electrical systems, up to 480V, 3Ø to include indoor and outdoor lighting systems, electrical bus systems, electrical distribution panels, and secondary electrical feeders
  • Repairing, maintaining, installing, inspecting, and testing of all building and equipment grounding systems, electrical wiring, electrical components and/or systems (e.g. motors, circuits, transformers, generators, compressors, switches, intercom systems, kitchen equipment, etc.)
  • Installation of additional electrical wiring and systems up to 480V, 3Ø
  • Maintaining and performing inspections on all base lightning protection systems
  • Maintaining and performing inspections on all base cathodic protection systems
  • Maintaining and performing inspections on all base fire protection and alarm systems
  • Maintaining and performing inspections on all base intrusion detection systems
  • Utilization of testing devices such as ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, and multi-meters
  • Direct/train other maintenance workers w/installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment
  • Maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment
  • Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Install conduit inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes
  • Prepare sketches and/or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
  • Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services
  • Coordinate and communicate procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building, environmental, and safety regulations.

 

Performs proper maintenance and repair of base water distribution and plumbing systems, repair of base structural and architectural systems & performs other maintenance duties:

  • Maintaining, installing and repairing sinks, showers, sanitary plumbing fixtures
  • Maintaining, installing and repairing sanitary sewer systems and lift stations
  • Maintaining, installing and repairing potable water distribution systems
  • Maintaining, installing and repairing facility fire protection systems, pumps, tanks, and valves
  • Assists in the maintenance, installation and repair of the base irrigation systems
  • Maintaining, installing and repairing roll-up door systems, personnel entry doors, folding wall partitions, lock systems, building ladder systems, hoists, roofing systems (standing metal seam and Modified Bitumen), gutters and down spouts, awnings and window systems
  • Maintaining, installing and repairing structural steel buildings, Stucco, brick, block masonry systems and concrete tilt-up panel systems and structural coatings
  • Maintaining, installing and repairing perimeter fencing systems, manual and motorized gate systems:
  • Band saws, belt sanders, drill press, grinders, table saws, pipe threading machines, refrigerant recovery systems and all other assigned tools and equipment to include vehicle equipment
  • Ensures 100% accountability of all assigned tools
  • Ensures that all applicable safety requirements and procedures are followed at all times.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of the procedures and methods for installing, altering, repairing and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Skill in using hand tools.
  • Skill in installing, altering, repairing and maintaining electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
