The Family Services Specialist (FSS) works within the Family Safety Program Office, assisting operations by providing analytical reviews and analysis of program activities.  The FSS performs a variety of tasks with the Child Protective Investigations teams, including interpretation of data and providing assistance to staff, supervisors, program administrators, and operations managers regarding policy interpretation and application. Job duties also include providing training products and needs. Additionally, the FSS conducts investigatory quality reviews and participates in special projects as needed.

Specific Duties:  

  • Provides consultation and expert advice to management or other groups on policy, systems-related or process related topics.
  • Collects data and identifies trends and developments in Child Protective Investigations activities, including identifying necessary improvements and adjustments to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Develops monitoring tools.
  • Conducts quality reviews and special case reviews.
  • Facilitates trainings for frontline staff and supervisors related to various subject matters.
  • Assist in providing guidance to investigators by coaching, motivating, modeling, and providing other mentoring initiatives. 
  • Develops methods to implement and administer policies, procedures and program activities including training and materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years experience as Child Protective Investigator Supervisor previously or currently.
  • Active CWCPI certification through the Florida Certification Board.
  • Experience working with MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint at an advanced level.
  • Strong analytical skills - ability to collect research and evaluate data to reach logical conclusions.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, follow-through and demonstrated ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
