Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for inspecting mobile/manufactured home installations, investigates complaints on the installation practices of licensed installers, dealers and manufacturers. The incumbent will serve as a consultant to local building officials in code interpretation and the proper use of certified installation products and provide mobile home installer training. The incumbent will also be responsible for conducting oversight reviews of local government inspection programs to determine compliance.

  • Skill in understanding, interpreting and applying rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Hands on/In person customer service experience
  • Experience with teaching and/or providing training

  • Knowledge of construction and/or inspections of homes

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Knowledge of either the proper installation, construction, and inspection of mobile homes
  • Knowledge of construction of site-built homes
  • Knowledge of inspection of site-built homes

 

Job Related Requirements

  • To have and maintain a valid driver license in good standing. A driver license history review will be conducted on all candidates in consideration for the position.
  • Extended (including occasional overnight) travel.
  • This position will require the ability to climb on top of roofs and crawl under manufactured homes to complete inspections.
  • This position requires occasional heavy lifting; applicants must be willing and able to lift and carry 50 pounds.

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
