The mission of the RBNERR is to provide a basis for informed stewardship of estuaries in Southwest Florida through research and education.

The OPS Information Specialist I is a core member of the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR).
The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provides funding to state governments and universities to administer the National Estuarine Research Reserves (NERRs) currently implemented at 30 locations around the coastal United States and its territories.
The Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (RBNERR), located in Naples, Florida was designated in 1978 as the third NERR in the nation due to its outstanding natural features including pristine mangrove forests and barrier islands.

Pay:
$20.00 per hour - 29 hours per week.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Rookery Bay National Research Reserve is looking for a Communications Specialist to assist in promotion of the work of the Reserve and the many programs and events occurring at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center.
Responsibilities include updating media, partner and hospitality contact lists; sorting and maintaining press clippings; updating digital slides; sending monthly events to partners and local media and consolidating information to write social media posts.
The Communication Specialist will assist Communications Coordinator with the development and implementation of new communications strategies as well as work with volunteers to coordinate the delivery of rack cards to local hotels and provide volunteers with monthly event information for partner digital calendars. In addition, the Communications Specialist will interact with all Rookery Bay departments to gather information for social posts and weekly reports; take photos of events, activities and staff at work in the field and assist in outreach events.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong writing, attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary in this role. The Communications Specialist must be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with design software such as Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
