DESCRIPTION:
The duties and responsibilities of the Judicial Clerk I include performing a variety of specialized administrative, secretarial, and clerical tasks. Work involves displaying professionalism, initiative, organizational skills, and a strong work ethic. Frequent working contacts are made with judges, attorneys, unrepresented parties, and the general public. Work is often of a sensitive and confidential nature. Work requires independent judgment and is performed under the general supervision of a Judge of Compensation Claims.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Schedule and calendar live, telephone, and zoom hearings and other JCC events.
· Review legal pleadings.
· Generate orders for JCC review.
· Generate notices of legal proceedings.
· Communicate with parties regarding scheduling, deficiencies in pleadings, and information requested by the JCC.
· Review exhibits to provide to the District Court of Appeal.
· Maintain a system to track and monitor deadlines.
· Generate reports regarding case and hearing information.
· Proofread evidentiary orders drafted by the JCC and suggest possible style or grammatical corrections.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs;
· Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment;
· Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
· Ability to organize work and effectively manage one’s time.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Experience in a legal setting is preferred.
· Strong communication, reading, writing, and organizational skills.
· Attention to detail, reliability, and punctuality.
Successful completion of Level 2 background screening is required for all positions with the Division of Administrative Hearings.
