Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of experience in property maintenance, construction, and/or facility repairs; can substitute the required years of education with a bachelor's degree from a college or university with a major in building construction, engineering, and/or business. Knowledge of or aptitude to learn carpentry, electrical, and plumbing,
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference may be given to candidates with plumbing and electrical experience. Experience must be demonstrated on the candidate’s profile.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Commission expects its employees to be courteous and respectful while assisting customers and stakeholders. When appropriate, employees will explain the reasons for agency actions or decisions while communicating a consistent FWC point-of-view.
This is a temporary position expected to extend from the date of hire to December 18, 2025. The position must interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, CAD drawings, and hand sketches for all construction and installation assignments; measure, use drill drivers, power saws, and hand tools, cut and assemble PVC piping, and structural strut, rods, and hangers, for construction and installation of aquaculture piping and control systems; insulate and cover PVC piping; pull low voltage wire through wire trays, conduits, and other wire ways; follow best practices for PVC pipe welding and cutting, for cutting structural strut and rods, and insulating and covering PVC pipes; identify and estimate materials and supplies needed for construction and installation of equipment and integrated systems; wear PPE and follow safety guidelines; handle construction adhesives and solvents following Safety Data Sheets guidelines.
Maintain work areas in a clean and ordered fashion daily. Care, maintenance, organization and cleanliness of facilities, tools, and equipment are required, not limited to a specific work area. Must maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. Working hours are Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM with a total of 40 hours scheduled weekly, and not to exceed 40 hours.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of best practices for PVC fitting, cutting, and welding; safety practices for personal protection for operating power tools, using chemical solvents and adhesives, working from ladders, and working within and around construction zones.
Skilled in operating and maintaining hand and power tools; measuring and cutting PVC pipe, lumber, fiber strut; cutting and installing PVC piping and fiber strut.
Ability to: pull low voltage wire through wireways; organize and label low voltage wiring; lift, cut, place, and install PVC piping, channel struts and rods according to design and verbal instructions; use abstract reasoning, problem solving, planning, and analytical skills; be a team player and work integrally with a diverse workforce; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and to work independently; communicate clearly, verbally and in writing; lift 55 pounds, work safely from ladders, work in tight spaces, work outdoors, and work in extreme heat.
