This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Office of the Inspector General.
The mission of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) at the Florida Department of Corrections is to protect and promote public integrity and accountability within the Department through investigations, audits, and inspections. We aim to detect and prevent fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct, ensuring that the Department operates efficiently and effectively while upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
The incumbent in this position compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources. Additionally, the incumbent will request, receive, analyze, and document information of a criminal nature. This position will be located and work in the Office of the Inspector General's Analysis Unit.
- Compiles, analyzes, and disseminates information and criminal intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, and promotes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies.
- Requests, receives, analyzes, and documents information of a confidential nature. Incumbent will process, analyze, and develop confidential criminal and intelligence information pursuant law, rule, involving those covered correctional officers and correctional probation officers, by labor contracts for the Inspector General’s State Investigations field offices. Please note COs and CPOs are covered under FS 112.
- Coordinates inter-state and intra-state information and intelligence pertaining to criminal activity and criminal movement which occurs upon Department of Corrections property, involves inmates, gang activities, and exercises independent judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated to proper authority.
- Prepares and completes written reports which are grammatically correct. Completes all administrative documentation and issues reports timely. Ensures reports compiled are logically comprehensive and grammatically correct. Functions well as a team member.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must possess at least two (2) years of experience where your primary function was intelligence, investigations, or analysis and a High School Diploma or equivalency; OR
- Must possess at least one (1) year of experience where your primary function was intelligence or analysis AND an associate’s degree in criminal justice or a related discipline;
OR
- A completed internship in criminal justice, intelligence, investigations, or analysis AND an associate’s degree in criminal justice or a related discipline.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience and/or postsecondary education in a criminal science discipline.
- Certified Law Enforcement Analyst.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT
