MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma or its equivalent.

This position is subject to the following conditions:

1. Frequent transfers throughout the state with minimal notice
2. Shift work and required overtime during peak periods, many times requiring employees to work 7 days a week.
3. Work is seasonal depending on harvest periods.
4. Irregular work shifts
5. Must obtain Federal Inspection License (FV-200 and/or FV-201) within one year of appointment.
   
   

Requires possession of a valid Class E driver license.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a federal license (FV-200 and/or FV-201) as an inspector in accordance with 7 C.F.R. Part 51 within one year of appointment.

Valid Class E Driver License.

Frequent travel required.

Some alternate work hours and/or overtime may be required to accomplish inspection duties and responsibilities.

JOB DUTIES:

Selects representative samples of fruit, vegetables and nuts in accordance with prescribed sampling procedures and plans.  Inspects the products to determine quality, condition and/or compliance with United States Department of Agriculture standards, committees, laws of the state of Florida and/or marketing orders.  Prepares inspection reports based on results of examination of product.

Travels to various packing houses and/or canneries during days and/or nights.  Prepares and maintains a daily and weekly report and monthly expense voucher.  Receives instruction through training classes and field supervision.

Performs related work as required.

This position has regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of s. 112.313, F.S., and Section 60L-36.003, Florida Career Service Rules and Regulations.
