Your Specific Responsibilities:
The person in this position will work with the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners and physicians in the HIV/AIDS Polk/Hardee location clinics as well as assist with ADAP and all other parts of the Ryan White program.
Clinical duties to include:
- Interviews patients to obtain pertinent health information.
- Prepares patient for examination.
- Assists with examinations.
- Administers minor treatments and vaccinations as prescribed
- Takes blood pressure readings.
- Obtains temperatures, pulse, & respiration.
- Performs screening exams: height & weight, vision/hearing.
- Phlebotomy and all other duties related to collecting and transferring medical specimens.
Supportive duties to include:
- Assists in keeping medical records and maintaining inventory of medical supplies.
- Keeps the clinic and all equipment in operating order.
- Prepares and transports specimens to the laboratory.
- Collects and completes medical information for reporting statistics.
- Assists with accurate completion and review of health records.
- Assists the medical providers with care coordination activities.
- Coordinates prescription refills with pharmacies.
- Assist with Clinic Quality Management process, data entry, and referral process.
- Obtains prior authorizations for medical care.
Additional duties:
- Works cooperatively with case management to ensure eligibility is completed and maintained.
- Assists with issuance of ADAP medications
- Applies nursing principles and techniques in the treatment of patients.
- Makes assessment of patient’s condition in relationship to medication administration.
- Educates patient in medication administration, adherence, side effects and contraindications.
- Ensures laboratory testing has been completed to ensure appropriate medication is being administrated in consultation with medical providers
- Conducts health history in relationship to medication administration and adherence.
- Attends conferences and workshops as related to HIV/AIDS.
- Will participate in cross training learning other clinical duties in the Specialty Care Clinic
- As a state employee, in a County Health Department, incumbent will participate in disaster preparedness and/or recovery activities.
- Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

- F.S. 464 Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Florida
- Valid Florida driver’s license
