We are seeking a passionate public health professional to join our Community Health Division who enthusiastically embodies our organization's mission, vision, and values.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

 

The successful candidate will assist the Community Health Director with a variety of public health projects and initiatives throughout Manatee County. This includes supporting quality improvement projects, coordinating meetings, taking minutes, and maintaining communication with community partners. The role also involves creating digital and print content to promote DOH-Manatee programs, raise awareness, share health messages, and strengthen community partnerships. Additionally, the candidate will play a key role in supporting outreach events and communication efforts aimed at fostering a culture of health and wellness across the county.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and write content, including digital articles, newsletters, social media posts, and promotional materials, to support DOH-Manatee health programs and initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain content for DOH-Manatee’s digital platforms to engage the public, workforce, and key partners.
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of community outreach events to promote health and wellness initiatives across Manatee County.
  • Provide administrative support to the Community Health Division, including scheduling, meeting preparation, taking minutes, and organizing materials for both internal and external communications.
  • Use data visualization tools (e.g., mySidewalk, PowerBI) to create reports, presentations, and other content that supports health initiatives and informs stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and program managers to develop and implement joint health promotion strategies.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of quality improvement projects and health initiatives to enhance community health and wellness.

This position requires occasional travel and some weekend and evening hours. Position activities may occur before, during, and after regular working hours or on weekends or holidays. This position is not limited to these job responsibilities as it serves as a guideline with the understanding that job responsibilities may be added, revised, or removed as needed.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of communication strategies.
  • Excellent writing and content creation skills for a variety of platforms.
  • Experience with using platforms for data storytelling and presenting health data in an engaging way.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with partners and internal teams to support communication goals.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to provide administrative support for division activities. 

 

Qualifications include:

  • 2+ years of experience in health communication, public relations, or content creation.
  • Experience with digital content creation and social media management (e.g. Canva, Twitter).
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., mySidewalk, Tableau).

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field
