Duties and Responsibilities:

This position works in the environmental health division performing administrative duties providing courteous and efficient service in person and via the telephone answering calls, screening call taking complaints and making appropriate referrals. This position is subject to time constraints and must be performed with a high rate of accuracy. Required skills include effective communication, data collection and or ability to apply rules, regulations policies and procedures while maintaining the highest degree of customer service. The position may require reaching, bending, stretching, twisting, and stooping.

 

Works in Environmental Health section performing duties in compliance with Environmental Health manual 150-4, fiscal policies and other department policies, including coordination of customer applications and data input in the onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems, limited use drinking water systems, sanitary nuisance and biomedical and rabies programs. Communicates between customers and CHD field staff, issuance and filing of permits, filing and retrieval of plans records and files. Enters inspection data, site evaluation data for onsite sewage treatment and disposal system and limited use drinking water programs.

Collects and posts payments and reports fees collected for EH programs utilizing environmental health database. Ensures collections are forwarded to finance for deposit within the required time frames.  Generates annual permits, licenses and or sanitation certificates upon receipt of payment of such. Enters monthly data into the limited use drinking water data base. Generates monthly, quarterly and annual reports from environmental health database for review by supervisor.  Performs filing and retrieval of files. Sorts’ incoming mail for environmental health. Mails permits and other correspondence as required. Performs plan filing and file retrieval along with other clerical requirements. Issues receipts for “On Demand” payments.

 

Performs scanning of plans and files as requested and store within electronic format for retrieval as needed. Updates and archives existing paper files to bring up to date and in compliance with records retention requirements and space allocation and availability.

 

Coordinates customer applications and or complaints in putting them into environmental health data base to be reviewed by the environmental specialist.

 

Creates and reconciles invoices in My Florida Market Place. Creates purchase requisitions for Environmental health maintaining accountability of the entire purchase until the item is received and payment is processed remaining in compliance with time limits requirements and invoice processing.

 

Performs other related duties as directed and needed.

This position is in compliance with and monitors compliance of the mandatory requirements in section 215.422, Florida Statues 381.0204 and 381.006 and chapter 3A-24 Florida Administrative Code.

Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duties require of the incumbent include working in special needs shelter or to perform emergency duties including but not limited to responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
