Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is an OPS position that will float between Levy, Dixie, and Gilchrist County Health Departments. This position will work 40hrs/week. Hours beyond that amount must have your supervisor’s approval ahead of time. This position requires that the incumbent possess a clear and active Driver’s License and a clear an active License as a Registered Nurse in Florida. This position will work between Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County. This position reports directly to and is supervised by the Registered Nursing Consultant.
Clinical Care: Provides comprehensive nursing services including, but not limited to: patient histories, vital signs, phlebotomy, obtaining urine specimens for various tests, obtaining capillary and venous blood samples. Provides immunizations according to CDC guidelines and protocols. Performs screenings such as hearing, vision, height, and weight. Issues medications under nurse protocols or physician/ARNP direction. Provides patient health education and counseling. Assists medical providers in the clinics and with procedures. Assures accurate and complete medical record documentation in Electronic Health Record format. Assures patient care and work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly fashion. Provides triage of patient needs and determines appropriate follow-up. Reports immediately to the Nursing Director or Assistant Nursing Director, any areas of concern.
Health Education: While conducting clinics, this position provides health education and counseling for clients, maintains treatment records along with interpreting physician orders and recommendations, maintains a knowledge base concerning all Public Health Programs such as but not limited to: Chronic Disease, Tuberculosis, and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Epidemiology, HIV and Immunizations. Performs advanced and extended functions in specialized areas such as Family Planning, Pediatrics and Immunzations, within guidelines of RN Protocols and within scope of practice.
Lab: Responsible to ensure all lab specimens are labeled and appropriate lab forms are ready for pick-up by courier daily and for collection of lab slips (with results), handled per protocol of medical provider who ordered tests.
Referrals and Chart reviews: Follows policies regarding medical referrals and assists providers as requested. Provides ongoing review of medical charts per Quality Assurance guidelines, reviewing 4 charts per provider monthly. Results will be shared with clinical team and corrective actions taken
EPI: Completes Rabies investigation training and assists with investigation Animal Bite Reports as they relate to potential need to Prophylaxis and medical follow up. Follows guidelines in the Animal Bite Compendium and orders from Medical Director or provider. Ensures clients complete their treatment plans and documents care in HMS.
Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to report to work on time,
Ability to use a computer and basic computer programs.
Knowledge of nursing process, Health Data of these communities and legitimate resource sites.
Bilingual in Spanish, is preferred but not required.
Qualifications:
Minimum – Free and clear license as a registered nurse, have one year experience as a registered nurse, willing to travel between Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County Health Departments, have a drivers license, basic computer skills.
