This advertisement is for an OPS position located at Hernando Correctional Institution. 

Salary Rate: $15.00 hourly

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

Under the direction of Secretary, Mark Inch, the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is the 3rd largest state prison system in the country with a budget of 2.4 billion, approximately 96,000 inmates incarcerated and another 166,000 offenders on active community supervision. The DC has 151 facilities and more than 24,000 staff members statewide, making it the State’s largest agency.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs related work as required.
  • Oversees and coordinates RDP/CFO program at Faith & Character Institution.
  • Maintains record keeping of all inmates, classes and activities of FCB Program

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSA’s): 

  • Knowledge of theological theories, philosophies and systems.
  • Knowledge of counseling and interviewing techniques.
  • Knowledge of computer skills and data entry.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or a bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with major course of study in theology, religion, education, or one of the social or behavioral sciences.
  • Ordination or a letter from the candidate’s religious group indicating that the person is recognized by that church or religious authority to perform religious functions in the prison setting.
  • Two years’ experience in religious ministry or activity which may include service as a religious volunteer.
  • A valid driver’s license
