Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) position and as such, no paid time off is offered. Health benefits will be offered for full-time employment.  OPS employees are eligible to participate in a deferred compensation plan.

This OPS position provides dental assistance to the Dentist at the Flagler County Health Department under the direct supervision of the Operations and Management Consultant II Manager. This position assists the Dentist during exams and performs expanded functions as defined by guidelines provided by the State of Florida during patient treatment. Makes radiographs and/or intraoral photos of intraoral structures for the diagnosis of dental infection or related diseases upon approval of appropriateness of said radiographs/photos by Dentist. Maintains dental equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Responsible for breakdown, cleaning/disinfecting of dental operatory and setup for next patient. Responsible for preparing dental instruments for sterilization and storage after sterilization. Monitors supply inventory and works with purchasing to keep supplies stocked. Communicates with parents and patients regarding care that is planned and assists with scheduling appointments for further treatment needs. Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of dental unit. Enters EARs (Employee Activity Records) within 5 days of date worked, verifying the time entered matches employee timesheet.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Expanded Functions Certificate
  • Florida Dental Radiology Certificate
  • Experience working as a chair side expanded duty dental assistant in a family or pediatric dental practice.
  • Skills in performing basic prophylactic procedures and sealant placement on children.
  • Knowledge of film placing instruments.
  • Knowledge of all CDC and OSHA guidelines regarding infection control and blood borne pathogens.
  • Skills in dental equipment preventative maintenance.
  • Skills in maintaining dental equipment in appropriately sterile condition.

 

Qualification

Minimum –

 Expanded Functions and radiology certificate.

 CPR Certified.

 Basic Computer Skills.

 Experience with records management system and protocols.

 Valid driver's license.

 

                                                                                                                               

  Preferred –

 Experience with dental billing, scheduling, and appointment control.

 Experience with the following software: FLMMIS, HMS, Outlook, EagleSoft.
