Your Specific Responsibilities:

50% This role supports the development and tracking of agency performance metrics, contributing to data visualization, trend analysis, and reporting to inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement. This position also plays a key supporting role in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) for DOH-Sumter. Working closely with leadership, the position assists with stakeholder engagement, data collection and analysis, meeting facilitation, and documentation.

15% Assists with activities related to maintaining public health accreditation, including documentation management, standards tracking, and participation in accreditation readiness efforts. Supports strategic planning by helping identify strategic issues, contributing to goal and strategy development, and assisting in the creation of action plans aligned with agency priorities.

10% Leads the department’s Performance Management and Quality Improvement (PMQI) initiatives. Manages the PMQI Plan, facilitates QI projects, and promotes a culture of continuous improvement. Provides training and technical assistance to staff on QI tools and methods and ensures timely documentation and reporting of QI activities. Promotes inter-department collaboration of QI projects and initiatives.

10% Serves as the lead for the DOH-Sumter Workforce Development Plan. Ensures plan deliverables are met, monitors staff training and competency development, and revises the plan as needed. Coordinates workforce development initiatives and collaborates with leadership to assess and address workforce capacity and training needs.

10% Provides support to the epidemiology team in the investigation and follow-up of animal bite reports, reportable disease cases, and outbreaks. Assists with data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform public health interventions. Participates in case interviews, documentation, and coordination with internal and external partners as needed.

5% Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Minimum – At least one year of relevant professional experience in public health, health planning, quality improvement, performance management, data analysis, or a related field.

Willing and available to work evenings and weekends when required.

Willing to perform emergency duties before, during and/or beyond normal business hours and/or day in the event of an emergency, disaster, or threat of disaster man-made or natural.

Preferred – Master’s Degree in Public Health or related Science / OR / Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Natural Science, Health Administration, or Public Health related field / AND / at least one year of relevant professional experience in public health, health planning, quality improvement, performance management, data analysis, or a related field.
