Description of duties: Assists with implementing wildlife management and infrastructure programs on DuPuis Wildlife and Environmental Area (WEA). Operates and maintains equipment including ATVs, 4X4 trucks, swamp buggies, tractors, mowers and power tools. Assists area biologist with wildlife management activities for game and non-game species to include surveys, check station management, and accurate technical biological data collection. Will also assist with prescribed burning and other land management activities in conjunction with the area partner agency. May assist with activities on other wildlife management areas as needed. Interacts professionally with the public and partner agencies providing accurate information concerning wildlife, area conditions, rules, and regulations.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: A valid driver’s license and ability to operate 4WD vehicles is required.  Ability and willingness to perform difficult physical work for extended and irregular periods, under adverse conditions, and in various extremes of weather. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and the ability to communicate with colleagues. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to safely, effectively, and proficiently use and maintain a variety of hand tools, vehicles, and equipment. Ability to plan and organize work assignments effectively and efficiently. Basic use of personal computers.
