Florida State Hospital Civil Units seek people with  PhD or PsyD in psychology, counseling, or very closely related clinical healthcare field to provide psychological assessment, forensic evaluation services (IST/ITP, NGI), consultation to multidisciplinary teams, group and individual psychotherapy and psychoeducation to adults in a 475+ bed state mental health facility operated under a Recovery model. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are welcomed, as this facility serves adult men and women of different demographic and life backgrounds who are committed under criminal and civil statutes for a variety of mental health concerns, generally issues that are severe and persisting. Proficiency with different languages, such as ASL, is also desirable. 

 

Qualified applicants with earned doctorates who are seeking postdoctoral supervised experience to attain a professional psychologist license can accrue the required supervision from licensed psychologists on staff.

 

The types of graduate degrees that are acceptable are those in which the person gained clinical knowledge and skills relevant to providing clinical assessment and therapy care to individuals. The facility reserves the right to determine which doctorate degrees are considered "closely related" to Clinical or Counseling Psychology in order to select candidates who will be prepared to deliver doctorate level clinician services appropriate to the range of diagnostic presentations represented at the facility..

Applicants selected for hire will be required to submit before hire an official transcript showing the attainment of a PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology.

 

Employees at Florida State Hospital must comply with all infection control mandates related to the use of all appropriate PPE's while carrying out job duties on campus. PPE's, to include masks, are provided and instructions on the appropriate use of PPE's is provided.
