APD’s Developmental Disabilities Defendant Program (DDDP) Overview
DDDP is a forensic facility working with individuals with disabilities in a secure setting. These individuals have been adjudicated by the courts as incompetent to proceed to trial and have significant behavioral and psychiatric issues. DDDP provides rehabilitative, vocational, and daily living skills training to the individuals served, which allows for a smooth transition back into a non-secure residential or community setting.

SALARY RANGE
$1,336.92 biweekly $34,760.00 annually
The Work You Will Do
Special daily cleaning and disinfecting of patients occupied and unoccupied bedrooms and other critical care areas, including cleaning all surfaces of the bed, bedside tables, furniture, outside call-system, over-bed lights, windowsills, ledges, doorknobs, light fixtures, ceilings, partitions, sinks, doors, and floors. Remove trash.
Special daily cleaning and disinfecting of patient and public bathrooms to aseptically clean wash sinks, tubs (outside only), showers, toilet bowls, urinals, seats, pipes, fixtures, mirrors, walls, and partitions, replacing paper products and soaps. Remove trash.
Operates automatic scrubbers, wet vacuum, carpet vacuum, low and high-speed buffers, floor conventional scrubbers, carpet equipment, pressure washer, ceiling and corner cleaning machines, and all other types of housekeeping equipment.
Special daily cleaning of utility rooms and all other areas within the assigned area.
Performs stripping, scrubbing, buffing, and shampooing tasks as required. Apply sealers, floor finish, germicidal cleaner, strippers, and all other necessary cleaning chemicals.
Reports needed repairs to the supervisor, leaky faucets, toilet, loose tile, broken windows or doors, broken beds, and all other unsafe items found.
Attend meetings or training sessions as requested.
Cleans and restocks work cart and supply areas as needed.
Hang draperies or curtains as requested.
Work according to the posted schedule.
Complete all the training required. Maintain PASS certification as required.
Maintain timesheet, ensuring accuracy and submitting timely in accordance with policy and procedure.
Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds, pull, squat, and stand for extended periods of time.
- High school diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
- Must be able to perform duties that involve direct contact with residents in a secure forensic facility.
Additional Requirements for This Position
- Certification in the Agency’s Crisis Prevention and Intervention Program. Advance training may be required.
- A pre-employment and annual TB screening.
- Annual CPR Certification.

Background Screening Requirement
It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
