DESCRIPTION

 

This is work detecting, preventing, controlling and suppressing fires, responding to non-fire emergencies, protecting life and property and conducting rescue efforts.

 

Please Note:  Applicants must possess State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance and

Applicants must also possess State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician Certification.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

 

Responds to fire alarms and other emergencies.

Assesses fire and situation, reports to superior, and receives instructions.

Establishes fire lines to prevent unauthorized persons from entering area.

Drives and operates fire fighting vehicles and equipment.

Maintains firefighting equipment and apparatus, vehicles, hydrants, fire stations and other agency facilities.

Participates in fire drills and demonstrations of firefighting techniques.

Participates in courses in hydraulics, pump operation, firefighting techniques, and other agency appropriate training.

Inspects buildings for fire hazards and compliance with fire prevention ordinances.

Provides information and education programs.

Conducts natural resource management work on public and private lands.
