 These positions will have varied shifts including 8am-4:30pm and 12pm-8:30pm, with occasional weekend work

 

To be considered for one of the music therapy-specific positions available, you must be board-certified or board-certification eligible.

Base Salary $ 29.344.38

This is work which involves counseling individuals to maximize the independence and employability of persons coping with personal, social, and vocational difficulties that result from birth defects, illness, disease, accidents, or the stress of daily life. Coordinate activities for residents of care and treatment facilities. Assess client needs and design and implement rehabilitation programs that may include personal and vocational counseling, training, and job placement.

 

These positions provide rehabilitative services to individuals in a mental health inpatient setting.

One of the available positions is Music Therapy Specific, and will require the selected applicant to be CBMT board-certified or board-eligible, with the expectation of successful board certification within one year of employment.

 

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in one of the following areas to be considered for the position:
Behavioral Sciences, Rehabilitation Sciences, Psychology, Counseling, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, Music Education, Physical Education with course work Adaptive Physical Education, Vocational Education, Dance Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Leisure studies with course work in Therapeutic Recreation, or Horticulture Therapy.
Alternatively Applicants may have a bachelor's degree in another social science or education with either a minor in Psychology or 18 hours of course work in mental health services. The Music Therapy-specific position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an AMTA-approved Music Therapy program.

 

This position also requires at least 6 months of full-time experience in leading therapeutic groups/classes providing individual sessions with individuals who have a mental illness, a developmental disability, a co-occurring disorder, a substance abuse disorder, and/or are geriatric.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Supervises employees by assigning work, reviewing progress and assessing performance.

Conducts client intake.

Assesses client's resources.

Performs job placement and job development activities for clients.

Performs follow-up and maintains client contact through telephone calls and home visits.

Interviews, counsels, and evaluates patients to determine individual therapeutic activity needs.

Consults with other professionals and team members concerning recommended programs.

Prepares reports on patients' progress and their reactions to various activities.

Evaluates rehabilitation therapy programs and makes recommendations for adjustment and revisions.

Conducts in-depth interviews with a diverse group of blind and visually impaired clients to determine their eligibility for rehabilitation services and the feasibility for achieving a vocational independent living or educational goal.

Determines existing problems and evaluates individual needs for achieving independence in daily living, in acquiring communication skills and/or obtaining suitable employment.

Develops community contacts for employment opportunities, similar benefits and socialization.

Assists in the establishment of policies, standards, rules, regulations and guidelines for program planning.
