This advertisement will be used to fill multiple positions on multiple shifts.

 

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 

The applicant selected to fill this position shall be required to submit to a pre-employment medical examination.  This position requires lifting, pulling, and squatting.  Duties of this position require the incumbent to be knowledgeable of and utilize the principles of Total Quality Management.  The employee in this position spends a minimum of 75% of his/her time performing duties as outlined on official position description, which involves contact with residents in a forensic facility or institution.

 

 

This position requires lifting, pulling, and squatting.  Duties of this position require the incumbent to be knowledgeable of and utilize the principles of Total Quality Management. Nursing will provide guidance in the care and treatment of residents.

 

Administers medication and treatments as ordered.  If applicable, checks medications for accuracy when returned from pharmacy following established policy/procedure.  Administers treatments such as, but not limited to sterile dressings, enemas, irrigations, catheterizations.  Takes vital signs and assessments of residents and assists staff in the care of residents.

 

Makes routine rounds on wards. Check’s complaints of residents notify the registered nurse and/or physician when required.

 

Assists in maintaining and completing resident records.  Completes nursing progress notes and nursing summaries as required.  Monitor’s charting compliance of direct care staff and reports deficiencies to immediate supervisor or designee.

 

Provides monitoring, supervision, and coordination of direct care staff regarding appropriate resident care and maintaining a therapeutic environment.

 

Signs and carries out physician’s orders including faxing medication orders, fills out X-ray requisitions and other diagnostic procedure requests, completes diet slips, flow sheets, etc.  Assists with maintaining accuracy of Kardex and incident reports and other forms and reports as necessary.

 

Keeps medical supply cabinets and treatment room stocked, clean, and orderly daily.

 

Attends unit meetings as required.  Maintains compliance with unit and FSH mandatory in-service training.

 

Gives/receives report at beginning and end of shift.  Maintains an accurate daily nursing report with information of occurrences during shift and new orders give.

 

Performs related duties as requested.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Knowledge of the principles and practices of health care or the behavioral sciences.  Ability to assist in carrying out treatment and rehabilitation activities centered around personal and social adjustments.  Ability to assist in group therapy sessions.  Ability to observe changes in patient’s behavior patterns.  Ability to assist persons served with personal care activities.  Ability to assimilate data and recommend changes in policies, procedures, and techniques.  Ability to document effectively.  Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively.  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.  Physical agility requirements: Must be able to ambulate up and down a stairwell.  Must be able to assist with evacuation of persons served during an emergency situation.  Must have normal vision and hearing, including use of corrective devices.  Must be able to work with or around cleaning chemicals and supplies.   Must be able to do repetitive movements with arms, hands, neck, and head.  Must be able to demonstrate competency, as appropriate, in all areas of training, some of which requires physical activity such as CPR and MANDT.  Must be able to bend, twist, turn, kneel, stoop, squat, push, pull, lift, and walk extended distances.  Must be able to physically operate all equipment necessary to do job tasks.  Must be able to lift and carry 20 pounds.  Must be able to sit and/or stand for one hour without a break.   Must be able to work 16 hour shifts on occasion.  Must be able to remain alert while on duty.  Must be able to drive an EZ Go or vehicle if job essential.

 

 

Working hours: (A) Daily from VARIES (B) Total hours in workweek 40 (C) Explain any variation in work (split shift, rotation, etc.) This position may demand more than 40 hours per week and obligate the incumbent to work beyond the normal work schedule, when required.
