The incumbent in this position is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and directing Administrative and professional work in the delivery of daily support services.  Assists in the management of all Residential Services Core Processes/Quality Measures.  Maintains a working knowledge of the hospitals mission statement, vision, values, long-term strategic objectives, annual business plan objectives, organizational structure and FSH operating procedures relevant to assigned duties and responsibilities.  Treats customers, public and staff with courtesy, respect, dignity, and presents a positive image to ensure optimum customer satisfaction.

 

Supervises, schedules, and monitors Nursing shift assignments.  Coordinates job-related training and prepares and conducts performance evaluations on assigned subordinate staff.

 

Create and approve hospital wide Nursing schedules within established timeframes, assuring minimum coverage.  Ensures schedules are posted at least ten working days prior to the beginning of the schedule.  Reviews and fairly adjusts work schedules to prevent all possible overtime while maintaining a safe and supportive work area.  Approves leave time in a fair and consistent manner.

 

Arranges hospital wide coverage for Civil Services living areas on day and evening shift.  Ensures that minimum staffing requirements are met to include coverage for all shifts.  Facilitates on a rotating basis, the deployment of Nursing staff to ensure compliance with established staffing requirements on residential living areas.  Develops, maintains and updates a hospital wide double on-double back rotation list.  Enters daily coverage on hospital wide coverage sheet within established timeframes.  Properly maintains and submits required reports and correspondence within designated timeframes which includes 24 Hour Nursing Report

 

Attends management meetings and participates in a positive manner, relaying information to subordinates.

 

Hires, transfers, and promotes staff in accordance with established procedures.  Tracks vacancies and alternate duty staff to assure maximum coverage.

 

Immediately reviews any complaints received against staff, conducts investigation and provides documentation.  Takes appropriate action including discipline in a timely manner.  Recognizes staff for superior

performance.  

 

Provides leadership in identifying opportunities for improvement, initiating and completing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects.  Serves as project manager and/or team member on assigned CQI projects.

 

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

  1. Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position: Must be able to travel up stairs. Must be able to do repetitive movements with arms, hands, neck and head; up to 60 movements in one hour.  Must be able to demonstrate competency in all areas of training, some of which requires physical activity such as CPR, MANDT, and Heimlich training.  Must be able to bend, twist, turn, kneel, push, stoop and walk extended distances.  Must be able to physically operate all equipment necessary to do job tasks, including using a keyborad for one hour.  Must be able to lift 50 pounds and carry 20 pounds for 30 feet.  Must be able to sit and/or stand for one hour without a break.  Must be able to work 16 hour shifts on occasion.  Must be able to remain alert for a period of 1 to 16 hours including normal breaks.  Must be able to drive an EZ Go or vehicle up to 3 hours at one time if job essential.
