OPS Chaplain F/C – 70910099

This advertisement is for an OPS position located at the NWFRC Correctional Institution.

Salary Rate: $47,500.18

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares and conducts religious services for inmates.
  • Interviews and counsel’s inmates on a variety of subject matters.
  • Visits sick patients, inmates or other individuals.
  • Performs religious activities such as baptisms, communions and anointing of the sick.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Provides pastoral care to inmates in the form of personal interviews in the chapel office, confinement areas and medical infirmary.
  • Provides information to meet the personal, inter-personal and spiritual needs of inmates during periods of adjustment and during times of personal and family crisis, such as death, critical illness and other emergencies.
  • Provides religious orientation for new inmates.
  • Manages and maintains the Religious Diet Program and interfaces with inmates as necessary in performance of this function.
  • Performs routine administrative functions such as scheduling daily inmate callouts, preparing and distributing volunteer participation memos before activities involving volunteers.
  • Tour compound weekly or more as needed, visiting all inmates’ housing, recreation, dining and work areas.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (KSA’s):

  • Knowledge of theological theories, philosophies and systems.
  • Knowledge of counseling and interviewing techniques.
  • Ability to conduct or coordinate religious services for a variety of faith groups.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to be proficient in computer, word processing, and Excel

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Two years of professional experience as a clergyperson.
  • Must be ordained.
  • A current written approbation or endorsement by the appropriate official of the ecclesiastical body.
