Your Specific Responsibilities:

Supervisory Statement: This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

 

The incumbent reports directly to the Sexually Transmitted Disease Program Manager and ensures that quality epidemiologic follow-up and comprehensive management is conducted around all sexually transmitted infections, including early syphilis and HIV infection interventions.

 

Monitors that all cases assigned for interview or counseling are managed and documented properly and that all investigations are carried out and documented timely.

1. Conducts and documents initial and periodic reviews on interview, counseling and investigative forms initiated by direct reports.

2. Critiques and provides guidance and direction on all interview documents and Epidemiologic Report Forms (ERFs).

3. Reassigns cases and investigations, as necessary.

4. Assigns ERFs not initiated by subordinates for immediate follow-up.

5. Ensures staff are trained to respond to heightened disease incidence and knowledgeable in all stages of syphilis intervention.

6. Contacts public and private health providers to ensure testing, treatment and reporting of HIV and other STD's.

 

Motivates all direct reports to meet program objectives as set forth in the STD Program’s Short-Term Objectives for the current year. 

  1. Observes and critiques interviews, cluster interviews, counseling, telephone work, field investigation, and field blood drawing.
  2. Teaches proper methods by demonstration and instruction.
  3. Documents problems observed to follow up on areas of improvement.  
  4. Develops and implements corrective action plans when necessary.
  5. Follows up with appropriate personnel action, as necessary.

 

Monitors all Jail Linkage activities to include but not limited to the following:

  1. Conducts and documents audits to include documentation of maintained needle logs, implemented protocols and semi-annual venipuncture and testing procedures.
  2. Attends quarterly Jail Linkage local and statewide meetings.
  3. Ensures Jail Linkage reports are completed and submitted timely.

 

Contributes to quality assurance and improvements initiatives through: Pinellas CHD snapshot measures, Comprehensive Program Communication, Quality Assurance reviews, Supervisory Ride alongs, Pinellas CHD Core standards.

Presentations are given as needed and assists with Budget/Fiscal Management (purchases, travel, etc.)

Participates and assists in the computation of statistical data for monthly reports. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

•  Knowledge of health care principles and practices.

•  Knowledge of sexually transmitted infections and current treatment options.

•  Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data.

•  Knowledge of budget process.

•  Ability to conduct fact finding interviews.

•  Ability to conduct health investigations.

•  Ability to identify, plan and develop resources for a health services program.

•  Ability to provide in-service training to others.

•  Ability to prepare records and reports.

•  Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

•  Ability to supervise people.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Florida Drivers’ License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two-four years of supervisory experience.
  • At least one year of investigative experience working with communicable diseases.  
  • At least one year counseling or case management experience.
  • One year of phlebotomy experience.
