 Maintenance Mechanic

 

 

 This position will serve as part of the maintenance staff primarily in the Clearwater Center location but will be on call to assist all centers. This position calls for a professional attitude and maintenance experience. This position will require you to work with vendors and to direct and monitor their work. 

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventive maintenance tasks and completes daily logs. Provide backup coverage to area supervisor in the absence of the staff or in an emergency and work as a floater to all Health Centers as and when needed.
  • Makes first contact with requestor and completes requested maintenance tasks within 2 business days (parts and supplies allowing).
  • Liaison with contractors at all centers to ensure contract specifications are met and confers with center managers about projects spanning for all the centers. Completes and submits preventive maintenance log monthly via email, by fifth business day of next month. Documents and completes unlogged tasks on calendar.
  • Help in conducting fire drills and safety inspections to all Health Centers. Completes mandatory trainings within first 3 months of the start of the rating period. Submits timesheets in an accurate and timely manner (by close of business, end of pay period).
  • Provides a written monthly update (by center) on possible maintenance issues or projects that may be needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of skilled building trades or mechanical repair work.
  • Skill in using tools and equipment in maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to perform a variety of skilled trade functions.
  • Ability to install, maintain and repair electric motors, generators and other mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to take accurate measurements and to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office, Outlook and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs, climb a ladder, reach overhead, work from heights, bend at the waist, kneel and crouch, be able to work near loud noises and electrical equipment, work in basements, tight spaces, on rooftop, able to reach overhead, bend at the waist, kneel and crouch.

 

Prolonged periods of time walking, standing, bending, climbing and exerting force frequently. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. When items are more than 50 pounds staff are recommended to take the necessary measures to lift properly and contact direct supervisor for assistance.

 

Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of employment.
  • Experience safely using hand and power tools
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on equipment and buildings
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
