This is a full-time position with the Law Offices of Sara Mollo, Public Defender, 6th Circuit.  The hours are 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday.

Handyman/Maintenance job duties

  • Performs maintenance and light repairs (such as hanging things on the walls, building furniture that was ordered, or fixing broken desk drawers)
  • Moving furniture as needed
  • Paint and fill gaps or crevices (office internal)
  • Oversee major projects such as painting or carpeting installation
  • Small appliance maintenance and repair
  • Organize and maintain warehouse (this will include some manual labor)
    • To include receive and inspect deliveries 
    • Maintain an orderly and safe environment in the warehouse
    • Informing purchasing department of low stock items
  • Organize and maintain storage room in the office
  • Stock supplies, bring supplies from the warehouse to the storeroom in office (van provided by office for transporting items)
  • Transporting file boxes from office to warehouse and maintain file system currently in place
  • Continuously improve the warehouse and supply room and showing initiative within these areas
  • Maintain storeroom and receiving areas that receive supplies from a variety of Carriers
  • Accept, unpack, receive and reconcile incoming goods for agreement as to quantities, descriptions, sizes, conditions and conformance to Purchase Orders.  Reconcile contents of the box to the vendor’s packing slip, immediately report any discrepancies to purchasing officer.
  • Organize and store material according to established methods
  • Store goods on shelves, in bins, racks, on floor and designated areas in a safe manner that lends itself to efficient retrieval when necessary.
  • Handle and store special items in a manner that requires exceptional storage procedures
  • Exercise judgment in estimating amounts of supplies needed for replenishment
  • Make decisions in developing plans for allocation of space and location of supplies and special orders
  • Refer any situations involving deviations from established storeroom/receiving procedures to supervisors and make recommendations to improve procedures and system
  • Responsible for keeping storeroom and receiving areas clean, organized, secure and safe
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • High School diploma or GED
  • Maintaining client confidentiality
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Dependable
  • Knowledge of basic repairs
  • Experience with hardware tools
  • Good communication ability and problem solving
  • Clean driving record
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Self-starter with good time management skills
  • Ability to switch from different work areas with little to no supervision
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
