Your Specific Responsibilities:


Health Care for the Homeless Program Manager


This position provides management of the Bayside Health Clinic, Mobile Medical Unit and Street Medicine locations, services, and staff, ensuring the health care needs of the homeless community are met in an effective and efficient manner. Program clinics include evening and weekend hours.


Duties include:

  • Ensures the program’s ability to meet its established goals and comply with agency and funder guidelines. 
  • Leads the implementation of agency and funder policies and establishes operational procedures as needed to carry out program activities, achieve goals and objectives, and resolve problems.
  • Evaluates program customer service, efficiency, effectiveness, and other quality measures.
  • Prepares clinic schedules and calendars.
  • Monitors the clinic flow and makes all required adjustments to maintain efficiency.
  • Monitors the capacity and demand of the clinics and evaluates productivity.
  • Monitors the program budget; prepares and approves purchases.
  • Coordinates the implementation and evaluation of strategic initiatives for the program.
  • Ensures collection, analysis and utilization of programmatic data, including timely implementation of corrective action.
  • Leads supervisory and program-wide meetings.
  • Actively participates on program Quality Improvement teams.
  • Understands community, staff, and patient needs and effectively addresses those needs.
  • Promotes, protects and improves community health by addressing public health issues and access to healthcare.
  • Fosters effective community partnerships to meet the health care needs of the homeless community.
  • Actively participates in health initiatives in the community.
  • Assists with grants, reports, meetings and special projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for supervisory duties including hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Guides, motivates and directs the performance of others; holds them accountable for their actions.
  • Fosters the learning and development of others through coaching, managing performance, and mentoring. 
  • Completes training to promote professional growth and supports staff in doing the same.
  • Distributes agency, funder, and program information to staff and ensures implementation of new procedures and policies. 
  • Keeps supervisor, clinic team, contract manager, quality assurance coordinator, medical director, funders, and partners informed as applicable.
  • Maintains 24-hour availability for emergency duty and provides after-hours, weekend and holiday coverage as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5 or more years of supervisory experience
  • Program management experience
  • Experience managing health clinic operations
  • Experience working with the homeless population
  • Experience working within a public health and/or FQHC setting
