The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
This position supports the Bureau Chief of Facility Operations by managing and supervising regional and facility maintenance personnel, vendors, contractors, and design professionals. Responsibilities include overseeing routine work orders, corrective and preventative maintenance, plan and contract development, special projects, system designs, project and operating budgets, cost estimates, schedules, specifications, bid packages, bid analysis, award recommendations, and shop drawing approvals.
- Perform job site inspections, assist with maintenance issues, supervise construction projects, review invoices, complete certificates of completion, and assist with project closeouts. Brief the Chief of Facility Operations on regional activities and special projects.
- Coordinate, review, and prepare correspondence, ensuring completeness, compliance, and timely submission. Prepare accurate reports and updates for the Chief of Maintenance and Repairs.
- Monitor project status, schedules, budgets, and fund allocation, ensuring compliance with approved budgets and schedules. Ensure staff availability for high service levels.
- Provide leadership and direction during emergencies, assist in FCO budget requests, develop operating budgets, and oversee a five-year maintenance plan for each institution.
- Coordinate with Regional Department Heads on construction, maintenance issues, oversee personnel actions, manage recruiting and retention, oversee work order software training and usage, and serve as the ADA project contact.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Two (2) or more years of supervisory/managerial/ team lead experience in a maintenance or related environment.
- Seven (7) years of operations and maintenance work experience. A degree may substitute on year for year basis for up to 4 years of experience.
- A valid Driver's License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to speak, read and write in Spanish and English.
- Experience in AIMS (work order maintenance software)
- Two (2) or more years of experience with the State of Florida purchasing rules and processes.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in entering and processing state travel within STMS.
- Four (4) or more years in supervisory or team lead experience with The Department of Corrections.
