Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly responsible position assigned to the Dental Program within the Okaloosa County Health Department.  Works independently and makes decisions based on analysis of data and knowledge of dental practice. Maintains skills and completes on-going training to maintain active license in accordance with the dental practice act.

 

This position provides professional dental services consisting of examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and care of conditions within the human oral cavity and its adjacent tissues and structures, including emergency, surgical, preventive, and restorative dental care to children up to 18 years of age. Performs diagnostic, preventive, restorative, endodontic, periodontic, prosthodontic, and surgical procedures within the scope of the dental practice act. Develops treatment plans and maintains treatment records within Eaglesoft in accordance with the dental practice act. 

 

Work includes promotion and establishment of population-based dental preventive and educational programs and related dental public health activities. Collaborates with the Dental Executive Director and the Dental Clinic Manager to promote community and school-base preventive educational programs. Promotes the development of county integrated, coordinated oral health system between the public and private sector. Provides consultative and technical assistance to public and private entities, regarding oral health issues. 

 

Coordinates and directs the clinical portion of dental services, including all documentation required to assure compliance with Department Dental Program expectations. Monitors quality of care to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. 

Provides guidance to the program’s dental assistants. Works collaboratively with the Senior Dentist and Dental Program Manager to create systems and processes that generate significant revenue to assure all operational costs are covered by income.

 

Performs all other duties as assigned in support of the Agency’s mission and vision.

  • Licensure as a Dentist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statutes
