Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is a part-time (24 hrs./week) OPS Physician position that provides medical care to patients in the Dixie County Health Department (Dixie CHD) Primary Care clinic and Mobile Unit. The following are responsibilities in and for the Dixie CHD Clinic:
- Order appropriate diagnostic tests. Evaluate results of tests and provide follow up care.
- Prescribe appropriate medication for treatment of acute and chronic conditions.
- Follow current treatment guidelines.
- Refer patients for specialty care and consultation when needed.
- Provide care for minor trauma such as lacerations and musculoskeletal injuries.
- Perform minor surgical procedures such as suturing of an abscess, removal of a foreign body and removal of genital warts.
- Collaborate with the Leadership and Nursing Team, in the planning, guidelines and protocols for the Primary Care and Public Health care clinics.
- Provide School Entry and Employment Exams for Adults and School Age Children, including the ordering of exam required lab or drug screenings.
In addition, the OPS Physician shall:
Provide ongoing monitoring and treatment of primary care clients at Dixie CHD who present with chronic disease and other conditions of public health concern such as but not limited to STD, HIV and Tuberculosis.
Provide medical consultation for the immunization program for child and adult immunizations. Follow ACIP, AAP and CDC guidelines in providing immunization consultation.
Provide medical consultation for the Dixie CHD epidemiology department following CDC guidelines.
Evaluate Dixie CHD clientele who experience a medical emergency while in a Dixie CHD facility and decide when transfer to an emergency room is necessary. Facilitate transfer in conjunction with Dixie CHD nursing staff.
Participate in quality assurance and peer review activities that relate to clinical care at the Dixie CHD. Attend Dixie CHD and public meetings as needed.
Complete EARs, billing forms, and time sheets within required timeframes.
Check e-mail on a regular basis and respond as appropriate.
Perform other duties as required.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
This occupation requires licensure as a physician pursuant to Chapter 458, Florida Statutes; or licensure as an osteopathic physician pursuant to Chapter 459, Florida Statutes.
Responsible for securing the designated information sets for the purpose of protecting confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access for all information, both confidential and public record, that is stored in hard copy or electronic format
Incumbent may be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.
This position is for 24 hrs./week: Tues 10AM-7PM, Wed 8AM-5PM, Thurs 8AM-5PM

Qualifications:
Minimum - This occupation requires licensure as a physician pursuant to Chapter 458, Florida Statutes; or licensure as an osteopathic physician pursuant to Chapter 459, Florida Statutes.
