ADVERTISING TITLE: SENIOR CLERK-F/C (CLASSIFICATION)

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Cross City Correctional Institution in the Classification Department.

The mission of the Senior Clerk is to provide efficient and professional clerical support to the Classification Department by maintaining accurate inmate records, ensuring timely communication, and delivering exceptional customer service. We are committed to upholding organizational standards, assisting staff, and contributing to the effective management of inmate documentation and special projects with integrity and dedication.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Perform general office tasks like answering phones, drafting memos, typing forms, filing, copying, scanning, and sorting mail for the Classification Department.
  • Assist with maintaining inmate files, completing audits, preparing documents, and organizing records for new and current inmates.
  • Input and retrieve information from the CDC database, print reports, and prepare documents for inmate transfers or special projects.
  • Professionally answer phone calls, assist inmate families, and forward inquiries to the appropriate staff.
  • Provide clerical support for special assignments, organize classification documents, and help with tasks assigned by supervisors.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
