The Work You Will Do:
- The Employment Security Representative I (ESR I) is a professional position with Florida Commerce which promotes employment and training programs alongside the Workforce Development Board frontline staff.
- Job duties revolve around providing quality customer service using a variety of customer service delivery methods through person-to-person daily interaction, via telephone and using the CONNECT system to support Reemployment Assistance Claimants.
- You will focus on placement services for career seekers using Employ Florida (EF), job boards, local newspapers, and community resources. Ensures quality referrals are based on employer defined skill sets and requirements.
- You will ensure career seekers understand all services provided by CareerSource Pasco Hernando.

You will be assisting the job seeking community by providing services that are adequately documented in Employ Florida (EF) and ensuring that job seekers are obtaining and retaining employment and assist local employers to attract and retain highly qualified candidates. You are responsible for focusing on work demands and customer service in a diverse environment.

Pay: $35,360.00 Yearly
Your Specific Responsibilities:
- This is a professional position providing counseling/case management services to all customers in a Career Source Center.
- Interview and assess customers for job readiness through aptitudes, interests, personal characteristics, education, and work history. Provide various services to all customers, including intake and assessment, counseling, job search assistance, referral, and placement to include Job Development Contacts.
- Assist customers in the resource room, including online job applications, other partners registration and / or enrollment for financial assistance.
- Use standardized counseling techniques to assist customers in deciding vocational goals and employability plans for entrance into employment.
- Assist with Job Fairs and In-House Recruitment. In-House Recruitment is the process of assisting employers in the use of the CareerSource Center to recruit, interview and/or train new candidates. The resource staff is responsible to assist the employer as needed. They also ensure that the interested candidates are registered in Employ Florida. Prepare applicants for the employer by assisting with mini registration, resume, online application and other actions, as needed.
- Determine eligibility for and/or participation in special programs and coordinates services with state and local agencies for referrals.
- Process pending referrals.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to promote and market Career Center
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective customer service and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft applications.
- Skilled in group presentations or workshop instruction and/or facilitation.
- Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
- Knowledge of the basic principles of counseling and case management.
- Ability to listen effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.
Qualifications:
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Minimum:
- Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
- Ability to travel within the Pasco Hernando County area.
Preferred - Customer service experience.
