Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position spends more than 50% of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities including communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees and planning and directing employees’ work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations; meet with staff regularly to discuss performance; complete performance reviews; maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage; and complete timesheets.
The incumbent is part of a global public health organization and is expected to support the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County in its mission to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts and its vision To be the Healthiest State in the Nation. This position serves as Dental Manager responsible for the Dental Health program at the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County. This position requires vision, systematic thinking and independent judgment. This position will require traveling between dental offices. The incumbent is responsible for related duties such as strategic planning, budget recommendations and disaster planning, response, and recovery. This position also serves as clinical operations manager responsible for assessment, monitoring, data collection, performance management, and quality improvement for clinical operations at all DOH-Volusia locations. Duties include:
Clinical Operations Manager
Responsible for assessment, monitoring, data collection for clinical operations at all CHO locations. Meets with individual Senior Leadership Team members to review findings and develop strategies for quality improvement Serves as member of Performance Management Council (PMC) and Senior Leadership team (SL T) . Compile’s data and provides performance improvement recommendations to Health Officer, Performance Management Council, and Senior Leadership Team. Serves as SL T Sponsor for Quality Improvement Projects concerning clinical operations and service delivery. Serves as Senior Leadership Team Liaison at DOH-Volusia's satellite locations and provides additional supervisory support to staff assigned at these locations.
Dental Program Manager
Management and Supervision
Supervision, planning and management of dental clinics, School-based Dental Sealant program, and other community dental programs.
Coordinate and plan work, training, and activities of the dental staff.
Responsible for changes to personnel assignments and job descriptions as needed.
Ensures compliance with state standards (activity reporting. supply accountability and patient confidentiality).
Planning
Identifies staffing and financial needs within dental health program.
Identifies areas for improvement of dental clinics and direct reports to include dental client scheduling and dental clinic
flow/efficacy
Plans for and oversees dental staff training to ensure compliance with government and agency rules. regulations, policies, and procedures.
Organizes and maintains supply inventory including the purchasing, repair and replacement of equipment as needed. Developments and maintains standards, written policies, and procedures
Financial
Responsible for dental health program budgets
Monitors programmatic revenues and expenditures
Responsible for dental health program grants and deliverables
Keeps informed of current Managed Care guidelines and proposed changes in order to maximize revenue opportunities and/or make necessary adjustments to operations.
Communication.
Represents DOH-Volusia at community meetings, boards, and associations.
Networks with and facilitates partnerships and collaboration with local health providers, schools, community agencies,
businesses, and consumer groups.
Attends essential training sessions and conference calls.
Information Custodian
Ensures that dental data set(s) or area under his/her responsibility are available to those who need to know protects the integrity of assigned dental data set(s) and assists the security coordinator as needed to comply with policies and procedures as well as the responsibilities described in DOHP 50-10 Information Security and Privacy Policy 3, areas of responsibilities for Information Custodian.
Completes timesheet. EARS, and mandatory training in a timely and accurate manner.
Performs other related duties. including Emergency duty
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to effectively direct Dental program operations including management of budget related activities
Ability to supervise and direct employees
Ability to effectively collaborate with DOH Dental Program Office and community partners
Ability to lead, mentor and develop staff
Qualifications:

Must be willing and able to travel to outlying clinic or community sites in Volusia County utilizing your own vehicle if needed (mileage will be provided in accordance with agency policy)
Must have at least two years of supervisory experience working in a Dental clinic or community setting
Must have at least five years of clinical experience working in a Dental clinic or community setting
Must be a current Florida Department of Health employee, in a Selected Exempt Service (SES), Career Service (CS), or Other Personal Services (OPS) position
Preferred -
Minimum of two years of supervisory experience in Dental program
Minimum of five years of clinical experience in Dental program
