The Florida Department of Veterans' Affairs is an agency dedicated to serving those who served the U.S.  We are seeking motivated and dynamic individuals to join our Weekend Warrior Program.

 

 *Multiple OPS (Temporary) positions and shifts may be filled from this advertisement within six (6) months of the closing date. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have current Florida Certified Nursing Assistant License
  • Must be willing and able to only work evenings, nights, or weekend shifts.
  • Must be willing and able to work at least one shift per pay period unless otherwise approved by the Director of Nursing.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process, to include but not limited to, a Level II Background check and drug screen.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a 120-bed skilled long-term care nursing facility.
  • CPR certification

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This is an OPS (Temporary) SCNA Weekend Warrior position, responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents of the State Veterans’ Nursing Home of Florida, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures. 

  • Incumbent will assist with all aspects of resident care as assigned by the shift supervisor, including activities of daily living, ambulation, and mobility in facility. 
  • Respond promptly and courteously when answering call lights.
  • Observe, identify, and report resident concerns or needs to the shift supervisor.
  • Complete assignments timely, completely, accurately and in a cooperative manner.
  • Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service and FDVA policies and procedures.
  • Provide the necessary assistance when giving residents the following activities of daily living nursing care: oral hygiene, bathing, dressing, and grooming, hair, and nail care, shaving, toileting, eating and drinking, and mobility.
  • Assist as needed with related functions to, for, and with residents to include activities such as escorting to meals, assisting with laundry, and assisting with participation in activities.
  • Perform restorative measures such as obtaining and recording vital signs/weights, and assistance with self-administration of medications. Document services provided within facility software/databases.
  • Work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, family or resident representatives, facility staff, physicians, ARNP’s, consultants and ancillary service providers.
  • Follow Residents Rights policies at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
  • Transport and/or escort residents to appointments as assigned.
  • Assist with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health related tasks.
  • Attend all in-service programs, training classes, and domiciliary meetings.
  • Responsible and accountable for information contained in the Employee Handbook
  • Observe all facility safety, infection control and quality improvement, HIPPA policies and procedures, and internal quality improvement processes.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

 This position is in the Other Personnel Service (Temporary) system.
