Your Specific Responsibilities:
REQUIREMENTS:
This position serves as OPS DENTIST and works under the general supervision of the HEALTH SERVICES MANAGER B-SES. This position is responsible for general dentistry at Orange City and Daytona Beach Dental Offices for the Florida Department of Health in Volusia County.
This is a professional part-time dentist position, responsible for oversight of dental patients presenting themselves to the dental clinic for care. This position requires vision, systematic thinking and independent judgment. Areas of responsibilities will include time management, planning, implementation and evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the dental clinics. This will involve frequent interactions with the community, clients, provider staff, etc. This position will require traveling between dental offices.
Performs dental preventative and restorative therapies. Treats infections, diseases, and injuries of the mouth and teeth as appropriate. Performs extractions and other related oral surgical procedures. Performs restorative work using ADA approved restorative materials. Applies topical fluoride and dental sealants. Provides consultation and referral as required/needed. Records procedures and services rendered in patient’s chart.
Conducts dental examinations and evaluations for oral pathology. Reviews radiographs and/or photos of intraoral structures for the diagnosis of dental infection or related diseases.
Meets with Dental Manager and with dental staff members periodically to review records and reports.
Communicates and works with local dental society members and dental specialists in the community to facilitate care for the indigent population as needed.
Attends educational courses, training and seminars to remain current in the dental field relating to the most recent practices and protocols.
Completes timesheet, EARS, and mandatory training in a timely and accurate manner.
Performs other related duties, including Emergency duty.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and understanding of Florida Statutes governing dentistry (Chapter 466, Florida Statutes)
Knowledge of Dental principles and practices
Knowledge of terminology and techniques of preventative dentistry
Qualifications:
Minimum -
Must have knowledge and understanding of Florida Statutes governing dentistry (Chapter 466, Florida Statutes)
Must have knowledge of Dental principles and practices
Must have knowledge of terminology and techniques of preventative dentistry
Must be licensed Dentist in accordance with Chapter 466, Florida Statute
Must have experience developing treatment plans for dental patients
Must have experience using Electronic Oral Health Records systems
Must be able to perform routine dental services
Preferred -
Ability to perform simple extractions
